Best doorbell so far

"Very pleased with the Tapo D235 doorbell. The unit feels well made with excellent video quality. Very easy to setup, the only problem I have is that the pet notification does not work. The unit has facility for an memory card, cloud storage or a Tapo hub which then gives secure local storage as well as an additional chime."

Useful security

"Easy to fit and very effective. I intended using the original mains powered wiring but it was easier to position it battery powered. The images are very good but the downside is that to save the battery, it only records if the doorbell is pressed so not good for. cCTV work. The product is excellent though!"

Affordable quality

"Forget ring and paying subscriptions. Tapo are producing quality security products at very affordable prices. Download the TP-Link app and follow the easy to read instructions. The doorbell was set up in no time at all. I spent a couple of days fine tuning the sensitivity and alarm zone, then forget about it. The doorbell is linked to your phone, so you’ll never miss any callers. The battery usage is minimal, so it should easily last a few months between charges, unless you hard wire. I have no negatives comments to make as it really is that good."

Disappointed

"Decided to change over to Tapo from Ring doorbell due to subscription costs. I'm disappointed in the Tapo doorbell - I set the detection zone for the driveway and path - the Tapo doorbell records everyone walking or driving by. The postman can deliver letters and be halfway out the path before it picks him up. I also don't like the Fishbowl eye type camera."

Functional & simplistic

"Makes owning a multi camera security system, simple to run. A 16gb local storage is kind of pathetic, as this would be full in no time, and having to buy a 2. 5” hard drive is a bit of a kop out, but saying that, it gives you the versatility to match a drive size to the amount of cameras you own. I don’t run SD cards in my cameras, they are all linked to the Central Hub."

Works well

"I do like this doorbell but the time of detection to notifications is a bit slow it shows I have full connection with the wifi and the device itself is very big and heavy the only real bad thing about it was when my internet stopped I had to delete the device and reinstall it in the app to get it working again but for the price it is a great bit of kit"

Impressive

"This video doorbell is all I expected it to be. It was easy to setup and link to my H500 hub (along with two solar powered camera's). I was unsure how long the battery would last, but as I have it set to record when it detects motion, it is down to 93% after 1 week, inc setting it up, poisoning it etc, but not too many activations as we use the other door mainly. Got this for the useless delivery drivers who insist on using the wrong door and we hardly hear them knock (or should I say tap) on the door."

Tapo D235 doorbell

"Hardwired installed and worked fine for first 30days then stopped working. I reset it to factory settings and again worked for 2 weeks. I have no recordings or downloads. The notification doesn't even come through. The support team don't even know how to fix it!"

weak in terms of options,

"weak in terms of options, you don't know how much or what the allocation is for each camera, or at least how much. . . I expected a better interface. . . not mirror. . . with an HDMI cable connected. . . It is seen as a PC, not as an NDVR or DVR. . . anyway weak. . . . probably good in signal WiFi for external cams . . . remains to be seen."

Door bell d235

"very easy to connect but to senistive on motion for me as I am near a school and it keeps on going off , so i have to turn it off at these times. As well I find it a bit weard that alaxa tells you the model number of unit. but apart from that pleased with unit"
