Tapo C660 KIT, Solar-Powered Pan-Tilt-Zoom 4K Security Camera

Absolutely! A solar-powered security camera stores energy during the day, allowing it to operate at night. Our solar cameras also feature advanced night vision, ensuring clear footage even in complete darkness.

The main difference between 2K and 4K security cameras lies in their resolution, which affects image clarity, detail, and coverage. 4K security cameras offer four times the detail of Full HD and significantly more than 2K. This makes them ideal for capturing fine details like faces or license plates, even at a distance. Additionally, 4K cameras often provide a wider field of view, allowing you to cover larger areas with fewer cameras, making them a popular choice for maximum security and efficiency.

Yes, PTZ (Pan Tilt Zoom) cameras are great for live streaming surveillance footage. With remote control and high-definition video, they offer real-time visibility of your property. While designed for security, they can also be used for other live monitoring needs via the Tapo app, such as watching pets or deliveries.

A 4K camera can capture clear details at greater distances, typically up to 100 feet (30 metres) in daylight for facial recognition and even further for general motion. Exact range depends on the lens, sensor quality, and lighting, but 4K resolution offers significantly better clarity at distance compared to lower-resolution cameras, ideal for wide or outdoor coverage.

4K security cameras are ideal if you need precise detail in complex environments, such as capturing license plates at a distance or clear facial features in busy areas. They also future-proof your setup, ensuring compatibility with evolving tech standards and larger displays, and perfect for long-term, high-security needs.

You don’t necessarily need a 4K monitor as footage can be viewed through the Tapo app or on standard screens. However, using a 4K display allows you to experience the full level of detail and ensures better image clarity when zooming in, which helps review key footage.

Higher-resolution cameras naturally consume more data. A single 4K security camera recording continuously can use approximately 300–500 GB of storage per month. However, enabling motion detection and recording only when triggered can significantly reduce both data usage and storage needs. At Tapo, we provide flexible storage options, including local SD card storage and Tapo Care cloud services, allowing you to choose the solution that best fits your security and data management requirements.

PTZ (Pan Tilt Zoom) cameras are ideal for monitoring large or dynamic areas like gardens, driveways, warehouses, and retail spaces. Their ability to rotate and zoom makes them perfect for following motion, checking blind spots, or keeping an eye on key zones—whether for home security or small business surveillance.

Most Tapo outdoor security cameras feature two-way audio, allowing you to listen and speak through the camera via the Tapo app. This is useful for communicating with visitors or deterring intruders remotely.

It depends on your security needs:

• Wired security cameras offer continuous power and stable connectivity, making them great for long-term surveillance without worrying about battery life.
• Wireless security cameras are easy to install and ideal for locations where wiring is impractical. Battery-powered and solar options are truly wire-free, ensuring the most flexible placement.

The best outdoor security camera depends on your needs. If you prefer wire-free installation, a battery-powered or solar security camera like the Tapo TC85 KIT or Tapo C460 KIT is ideal. For continuous power and 24/7 recording, a wired camera such as the Tapo C720 Floodlight Camera is a great option. If ultra-high clarity is your priority, consider a 4K security camera like the Tapo C675D KIT and Tapo C660 KIT for the finest footage.

The best security camera for you will depend on your specific requirements, but a high-quality camera should provide exceptional resolution, reliability, and advanced features. For ultimate image clarity, a 4K security camera is an excellent choice, offering ultra-clear video with four times the detail of Full HD. This makes it easier to identify facial features, license plates, and other critical details, even in challenging lighting conditions.

For indoor monitoring, look for compact options equipped with motion detection, two-way audio, and night vision. For outdoor use, consider weatherproof models that deliver wide-angle coverage, enhanced night vision, and motion tracking for reliable performance in any condition.

Advanced features such as smart AI detection are invaluable for accurate alerts, distinguishing between people, pets, vehicles, and more, and minimising unnecessary notifications. Additionally, seamless integration with smart home ecosystems like Alexa or Google Assistant can enhance convenience and usability.

Tapo security cameras provide the perfect blend of affordability and premium features, including flexible storage options with both local and cloud storage. Whether you need a 4K wireless security camera such as Tapo C460 for enhanced surveillance or a solar-powered outdoor option such as Tapo C460 KIT for eco-friendly monitoring, Tapo’s range has a solution tailored to your needs.
